John Ray

John M. Kennedy Ray, 55, Kewanna, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at his residence.

He was born on May 3, 1962, in Peru. On July 4, 1994, he married Lorna Riley. She survives.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

He was a member of the Carpenters Union No. 615 in Kokomo. He was an expert craftsman, specializing in custom mantels. John was a gentle giant who loved God and his country and his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Lorna Ray, Kewanna; daughters Devan Anetrella (Joseph), Destiny Ray and Isabella Ray, all of Kewanna; parents Norman and Catherine Ray, Kewanna; brothers Gene Ray, Norman Ray Jr. and Tommy Ray (Amanda); sisters Katherine Sellers, Michelle Ray, Mari Ray, Tonya Gregory and Tracy Ray Hedrick; stepson Charles Lantz (Nicole); and grandchildren Katana, Joshua, Leo, Dante and Grayson.

A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, at Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, 123 E. Main St., Kewanna. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Mexico.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home. Friends may sign the online guest book or leave a condolence for the Ray family at Arrangements have been entrusted to Harrison-Metzger & Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel.
